AFAS welcomes new members and new ideas grounded in the profession and the discipline of African American and related Africana world studies. Become active in creating strong programming highlighting the significant role of African American studies through involvement on committees, research projects, program planning and professional exchange. AFAS members meet at  ALA Annual and Midwinter conferences. New members are always welcome.

Throughout the year, AFAS  members plan and organize substantive programming, discussion forums and networking opportunities related African American studies librarianship. As subject specialists,  AFAS  support the development of African American Studies librarianship and collections in academic, public and special libraries.  Learn more in the AFAS Brochure.
